What is Maine the Way?

Maine the Way began on Instagram in 2014 as a platform to showcase the beauty of Maine, and the photographers who capture it through their lenses. Over the next two years the carefully curated content shared by Mainers and visitors on the platform helped grow it into one of the largest Maine Instagram accounts.

At this time Christine and Cam came up with the idea of taking the ethos of the platform to print—all while the rest of the world seemed to be moving further into the digital sphere. They felt Maine would appreciate a slower pace of storytelling, and thus the quarterly was born. The original goal of Maine the Way—to share the vast beauty the state had to offer and featuring the talented artists capturing it—paired neatly with slow, thoughtful journalism, and when wrapped up in a clean beautiful design it was a hit!

Now, Maine the Way has released eight issues, continued to grow our digital platform, and worked with like minded brands around the state. We aspire to create content that resonates with the people of Maine and, in doing so, find that these stories live long and well in homes across the country. While the print projects will remain a core piece of Maine the Way, stepping away from the digital side has allowed us to come back to it with a new vigor, and insight into how to create digital content for brands  that feels real, thoughtful, and Maine through and through.

As we navigate the growth and changes of this small business, the importance of community, quality, and meaning stay close to our core.

Thanks for taking an interest in Maine the Way and being a part of the journey!
