Maine’s bicentennial
Over the past year of Maine the Way, we’ve celebrated the ecosystems of Maine—from the rocky treeless summits to the rocking gray-blue ocean and the nearly endless northern forests to our numerous inland waterways spilling seaward. Yet, while undoubtedly our state’s natural beauty draws people here and offers an almost unparalleled vastness and ruggedness for the Northeastern United States, that is only a small part of the Maine equation. Rather, it is the people, both past and present, that have shaped this state into the place we love today, sculpting it bit by bit, decade by decade.
As Maine celebrates its bicentennial, it is our great honor at Maine the Way to announce a special Bicentennial Edition of Maine the Way, created in collaboration with the Maine Office of Tourism. This 200 page publication will both delve into our colorful and storied history, as well as take a good look at the amazing people shaping the present and future of our land, our cities, and our seas here in Maine. As in previous editions of Maine the Way, long and short form stories will be paired with dazzling photography and captivating illustrations, all wrapped up in a clean and crisp design.
